WORKSHOP 4

Re-imagining a fairytale to devise an original performance

What a fabulous day!

Nine intrepid actors gathered at Maldon Neighbourhood Centre on Sunday, July 27, for the Hobo's latest workshop.

The actors considered a range of fairytales before deciding on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as the fairytale they wanted to work on.

The popular fairytale was deconstructed - characters were identified, themes were explored, and potential three scenes were then selected for the actors to explore.

These included wicked Queen and the Mirror; Snow White, the huntsman and the Prince who magically turned into the Wicked Queen; and, a Courtroom scene for the big finale!

Props, costumes and sets were added during the four-hour process to build the foundation for a terrific original play!

During our post-performance reflection, actors comments included:

"It was all spontaneous."

"It took off in a completely unpredictable direction."

"It was the best fun I've had in the last two months!"

Huge thanks to all the actors (pictured above, from l-r): Mark, Fran, Josh, Renee, Adrian, Loise, Juliana, Ron and Graham.
