Hobo Playhouse is one example of community-based, social realism theatre in Central Victoria. Below are the plays we've produced and performed from 2012-2019. The Covid-19 pandemic disrupted productions 2020-2022.
A one-act play by Robert Shaffron, directed by Jeffrey Bryant Jones. Produced and performed in Castlemaine and Emerald, Victoria to sell-out audiences. Won several awards at the Dandenong Ranges One Act Play Festival.
Featured the one-act play Bums by Robert Shaffron about street people and young Slam Poet Sam Hasel. Produced and performed in Castlemaine to sold-out audiences. Also performed at Bluestone Church Arts Space, Footscray, Melbourne as part of Fringe West 2015. Directed by Jeffrey Bryant Jones.

A two-act play by Gillian Plowman, directed by Steve Cooper and Jeffrey Bryant Jones. Produced and performed in Castlemaine, Maldon and Emerald, Victoria. Presented as part of Mental Health Week in Mount Alexander Shire.

A one-act play by Dr Anne Southhall, directed by Rob Jorritsma. Produced and performed for La Trobe University in Bendigo, Victoria to teacher education conference participants. Generated excellent feedback and ongoing conversations about managing young people on the Autism Spectrum in schools.

A play by Alan Hopgood, directed by Megan Riedl, about surviving a partner with dementia. Produced and performed in Castlemaine, Creswick, Kyneton and Bendigo in Victoria.
